IT Companies Headcount Falls: The country's three leading IT companies TCS, Infosys and Wipro have declared their results for the fourth quarter of the financial year 2023-24. And all these three companies have revealed reduction in the number of employees during the financial year. All three companies TCS, Infosys and Wipro said that there has been a huge reduction in their headcount during the financial year 20223-24.
Headcount decreased by 13,249 in TCS
TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) was the first among the three IT companies to declare its quarterly results on April 12. Then the company said that at the end of the financial year 2023-24, the employee base of TCS has come down to 601,546 and compared to the financial year 2022-23, the company's headcount has decreased by 13,249 employees. The company's headcount in 2022-23 was 614,795, when it added 22,600 new employees during the entire year.
Headcount decreased for the first time in 23 years
On April 18, 2024, Infosys announced its quarterly results and the company said that during the financial year 2023-24, the headcount of Infosys has decreased by 25,994. This is the first time in the last 23 years that the number of employees of Infosys has decreased. At the end of the financial year 2023-24, the headcount of Infosys was 317,240, which is 7.5 percent less than the previous financial year. At the end of financial year 2022-23, the headcount of Infosys was 343,234.
Total headcount decreased by 63,759
There has been a huge reduction in the headcount of Wipro in the financial year 2023-24. Wipro's headcount has decreased by 24,516 and the total headcount of the company has come down to 234,054. Obviously, if these three big IT companies are added together, the headcount has decreased by 63,759. It is believed that the headcount has decreased due to reduction in hiring at the entry level and slow pace of the hiring process.
