IPL 2024 Punjab Kings batsman Ashutosh Sharma reveals he was in depression after being eliminated from the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

IPL 2024: Ashutosh Sharma, who bats lower in the order for Punjab Kings, is in the news these days. His explosive inning of 61 runs in 28 balls against Mumbai Indians has created a sensation in the cricket world. His T20 career has been very interesting. He has scored 575 runs in 19 matches so far, but anyone will be shocked to see the number of sixes he hit. Till now Ashutosh has hit 43 sixes in 19 matches, but the journey of becoming a big star has not been easy for him. Recall that Ashutosh had scored 233 runs while playing for Madhya Pradesh in the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and he was the second highest run scorer in the tournament. Despite this brilliant performance, he did not get a place in the team the next season.

Describing the period of going into depression, Ashutosh said, “In 2019, I had scored 84 runs in the last match I played for Madhya Pradesh. Next year, a professional coach came, who had his own likes and dislikes. He did not like me.” That's why I was thrown out of the team. It was the time of COVID-19 pandemic, so only 20 people could travel together. I had to stay at the hotel only.

Ashutosh also told that he was unaware of his mistakes and he was dropped from the team without saying anything. Ashutosh told that those 3 years were very bad for him. Well now he is getting a chance to dominate the IPL. His pairing with Shashank Singh in Punjab Kings has become a big problem for the opposition teams. In IPL 2024, Ashutosh has so far scored 156 runs in 4 matches at an average of 52. He has hit 9 fours and 13 sixes in the tournament so far.
