Virat Kohli has been in the news for some time now. People are giving different types of reactions regarding his not being selected in the Indian team for T20 World Cup 2024. Virat Kohli has scored 4,037 runs in 117 matches in his T20 International career till date and is also the world's highest run-scorer in the shortest format. He has recently completed 12,000 runs in T20 cricket, yet his not being selected in the World Cup team is surprising. Now former Australian team captain Steve Smith has called Virat Kohli the best batsman in the world.
Virat Kohli is the best
Star Sports shared a video on Instagram, in which social media influencers CarryMinati aka Ajay Nagar and Vishal Dayama interviewed Steve Smith. Meanwhile, Smith was asked a question as to who is the best among the batsmen counted in Fab-4. Responding, Smith has called Virat Kohli the best batsman in the world. Let us remind you that Steve Smith was not included by any franchise in the IPL 2024 auction, but Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root have often been compared with each other in the Fab-4.
Steve Smith has achieved a lot of achievements especially in his Test career. He has scored 9,665 runs in 108 Test matches at an excellent average of 57.52. But in limited overs cricket, Smith's figures look very weak in front of Virat Kohli. In ODI cricket, Virat Kohli has scored 13,848 runs in 292 matches at an average of 58.67 and in comparison, Smith is far behind. Kohli has also scored 4,037 runs in T20 International cricket at an average of 51.75, but Steve Smith has been able to score only 1,094 runs at an average of 24.86. These figures are enough to prove that Kohli can be called the best batsman in all three formats.
