JEE Main Eligibility Criteria Relaxed: The National Testing Agency has relaxed the eligibility criteria of having 75 percent marks in 12th for admission in JEE Main. Now apart from those students who have 75 percent marks in 12th, students who get top 20 percentile of every state board will also be considered eligible for admission. If the score of these top 20 students is not 75 percentile but they have made it to the top 20 percentile scorers in their board, then they can take admission in top institutes under JEE Main.

Let us tell you that in the country’s big engineering institutes like National Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology and other centrally funded technical institutes, admission is given on the basis of JEE Main i.e. Joint Entrance Exam score.

In view of the requests received by the students, the National Testing Agency talked about making some changes in the eligibility. For this, candidates who have secured a place in the top percentile with 75 percent marks in class XII will now be considered eligible for admission. The agency said that in view of the requests received by the students, they have changed the eligibility criteria.

In this regard, the National Testing Agency says, ‘For candidates who qualify for admission to NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs, whose admissions are based on JEE (Main) rank, they must have at least a minimum of 1000 marks in class 12 examination. Must have secured 75% marks or be in the top 20 percentile in class 12th exam conducted by the respective boards. This 65 percent has been fixed for SC, ST candidates.
The rule came back after two years
NTA has implemented this rule back after two years. In the two years of Corona, the compulsion of 75 percent marks in class 12th was abolished. However, the students had demanded that they be exempted from this rule for this year.
Meanwhile, the petition filed in the High Court asking for the postponement of JEE Main has been rejected by the court. The demand of the students to pursue the examination to be held this month has not been accepted.
