KL Rahul reaction: Lucknow Super Giants lost against Rajasthan Royals in the 44th match of IPL 2024. This was Lucknow's fourth defeat this season. After the defeat, Lucknow captain KL Rahul told how the team lost the match due to his own mistake. After the match Rahul realized his mistake. Batting first, Lucknow had put 196/5 runs on the board in 20 overs. In reply, Rajasthan had registered victory in just 19 overs.
Now after the match, the Lucknow captain told how the low score took them down and KL Rahul was also involved in the low score. After the match, Rahul said, “I think we fell behind by 20 runs. We did not get a good start, but there was a good partnership between me and Hooda. In such matches, the set batsmen need to score 50-60. After this we will have to score close to 100 runs, I think we should have taken better advantage of this after we were at 150 in 15 overs.
He further said, “I think it is clear that the team which hits more sixes wins. We tried to hit sixes but today after the first two quick wickets fell, we had to change our approach. Hooda would have scored 20 more runs. And if I had scored 20 more runs, we would have set the total closer to 220. This would be the difference, we were behind by 20 runs. We are seeing how important it is to provide extra support to the bowlers because they are under pressure. Everyone likes hitting and we are no different, it is our big hitters like Puran and Stoinis who can hit the big shots. Let's try to put it on time.”
Rahul further said about Amit Mishra, “There were some discussions before the match. Mishra is an experienced player and today was the day when we knew how slow he bowls and with big boundaries, he can prove useful. Once the runs started, Krunal bowled some good overs, but he did not get good time to bring them on. When Powell and Hetmyer came to bat because they knew they could bowl to them.”
