LPG Cylinder Price Hiked After Assembly Election In North East States Price Hike Will Hurt Household Kitchen Budget

LPG Price Hike: After the assembly elections in three northeastern states are over, government oil companies have made cooking gas cylinders expensive. Just like in the last year 2022, after the end of assembly elections in five states including Uttar Pradesh, these companies had made petrol diesel expensive. From March 1, 2023, government oil companies have increased the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 50 to Rs 1,103. While the prices of commercial LPG cylinders have been increased by Rs 350. Now Rs 2119 will have to be paid for refilling a commercial LPG cylinder.

Expensive cooking gas will spoil the budget!

The common man was similarly troubled by the inflation of vegetables, wheat-flour, milk and other things. Inflation has spoiled the budget of people’s house. Now even cooking in the kitchen has become expensive. For the first time in 2023, the prices of domestic cooking gas cylinders have increased. Rs 1103 will have to be paid for refilling an LPG cylinder in the capital Delhi. If a family consumes one cylinder every month, then for refilling 12 cylinders in a year, an additional Rs 600 will have to be spent and if a family consumes two cylinders, then Rs 1200 more money will have to be spent every year. After this latest increase in the prices of LPG cylinders from March 2022, it has become expensive to refill LPG cylinders by a total of Rs 204 in a year.

Pockets will be cut for partying in restaurant

Partying in a restaurant or hotel will cut your pocket. Oil companies have made commercial LPG cylinder refilling expensive by Rs 350. After the commercial cooking gas became costlier by Rs 350 in Delhi, now Rs 2119 per cylinder will have to be paid. Due to the increase in the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder, eating and drinking in hotel restaurants can become expensive. Because only commercial gas cylinders are used in hotel restaurants.

Expenditure on cooking gas increased more than double

In the rule of almost 9 years of Modi government, people have to spend double the money for domestic LPG cylinders. On March 1, 2014, domestic cooking gas cylinders used to cost 1080. But the common people used to get 9 LPG cylinders in a year for only Rs 414 per cylinder. The government used to pay the remaining amount as subsidy to the government oil companies. But the Modi government completely deregulated the cooking gas and gave the rights to price the government oil companies. In the initial years, the government was giving subsidy on cooking gas and under Direct Benefit Transfer, the amount of subsidy used to come in the bank account of the people. Under the PAHAL scheme, only those consumers whose annual income is less than Rs 10 lakh, have a provision of subsidy. At present, in some states, the government provides subsidy of only Rs 79 per cylinder. The government gives a subsidy of Rs 200 on cooking gas cylinders to the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala scheme. Under this scheme, a subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder is given to the beneficiaries for refilling 12 cylinders in a year. There are more than one crore LPG cylinder consumers who gave up subsidy on cooking gas on the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But now their problems have increased due to the expensive cooking gas.

Cylinder for Rs 500 in Rajasthan from April 1

The Congress government of Rajasthan has announced to give cylinders for Rs 500 on April 1, 2023. While the current price in Jaipur is Rs 1106 per cylinder. That is, the state government will provide LPG cylinders at less than half the price. The opposition has been attacking the Modi government all-round regarding the cost of cooking gas. Despite this, government oil companies have made it expensive to refill LPG after the assembly elections. Obviously, due to this decision, inflation may increase further in the coming days.
