The country's second largest telecom company Bharti Airtel may soon take the lead in terms of towers. The company is preparing to buy competitor Vodafone Group's stake in Indus Towers.

If this deal goes through, the second largest domestic telecom company will have a controlling stake in Indus Towers, as its stake alone will increase to close to 70 percent.

At present Airtel has the maximum stake of 47.95 percent in Indus Towers. This may be the largest stake held by any one shareholder, but it is not a controlling stake, because the stake is less than 50 percent. Vodafone holds 21.05 percent stake and public shareholders hold 30.97 percent stake. If the deal between Airtel and Vodafone goes through, its stake in Indus Towers will increase to 69 percent.

According to the data till the end of December, the company was operating 2 lakh 11 thousand 775 mobile towers across the country. Airtel and Vodafone-Idea are among its customers. The value of the deal could be this much
Now this deal is stuck due to valuation. Has happened. The share price of Indus Towers has increased by 77 percent since January. In such a situation, Airtel is not ready to do the deal at the current level. Airtel wants to do this deal at the rate of Rs 210-212 per share. If the deal is done at this rate, its value could be around Rs 12 thousand crore. At the current level of shares, the value of Vodafone's stake becomes around Rs 20,500 crore.
