Google Layoffs 2023: The sector which has been hit the most by the economic downturn is the Tech Sector. Many giant tech companies like Google Layoffs, Facebook’s parent company Meta Layoffs, Twitter Layoffs etc. have laid off employees on a large scale in the last few months. Google had transferred this Indian employee named Tanmay Sahay from Britain to Switzerland by giving him a promotion in January itself. After this, he was fired from the job within only 2 weeks of this transfer. Sharing his story on LinkedIn, Tanmay said that I was working for Google for the last 4 years. The company transferred me from UK to Switzerland after giving me a promotion. Only 2 weeks after this transfer, I came to know that I have been retrenched. Now I am looking for new job.
Many employees have been laid off
Due to the recession, many companies around the world are laying off employees (Layoffs News). In such a situation, people are expressing their pain through social media. Recently, Harsh Vijayvargiya, an employee working in Google’s Hyderabad office, shared an emotional post on LinkedIn saying that he has been fired. He had told that after being a star performer, the company had fired him.
Google had laid off 12,000 employees
In January 2023, Google had shown the way out to 12,000 employees worldwide. While retrenchment, the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai had said that this retrenchment has been done entirely on the basis of the performance of the employees. Along with this, he said that he takes full responsibility for this retrenchment and this decision has been taken for the betterment of the company.
