Bradley Cooper Surprises Carol Burnett with Sweet Message for Her 91st Birthday

Bradley Cooper sent Carol Burnett a special message in honor of her 91st birthday.

During Burnett’s appearance on the April 24 edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, host Jimmy Kimmel brought up her joking on Live with Kelly and Mark that she wanted to “do” the Maestro star, 49, before turning 91 on April 26.

“Well, you know, my birthday is Friday,” she reminded Kimmel, who had a surprise in store for the comedy legend, saying, “We did reach out to Bradley and, well, he sent this.”

“Hello, Carol Burnett, it’s Bradley Cooper,” the actor began his video message. “I just wanted to wish you a very happy 91st birthday.” 

“I’ve been such a massive fan of yours ever since I was a kid, watched your show religiously, and it’s a thrill to leave you this message,” he continued. “I hope to meet you one day and maybe even work together. I hope you have a great day, see ya.” 

The Palm Royale star appeared to be both shocked and charmed by the message, saying, “Oh, that is hysterical. I love that.”

“It’s not sex. It’s a step in that direction,” joked Kimmel. “That’s how Bradley does it, first he sends a video message.”

“What a great birthday present, thank you. So adorable,” she added. 

On Live with Kelly and Mark last month, Burnett joked about her plans before turning 91. Kelly Ripa noted at the time that ahead of her 90th birthday, Burnett appeared on her podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa, where she shared a cheeky answer to the question of what she would like to do before turning 90.

“You know, I listened to the podcast … I loved hearing your stories,” Ripa’s husband and fellow co-host Mark Consuelos said. “And you said something very funny, that, ‘Is there’s something you wanted to do that you haven’t done yet before you turn 90?’ And you said, ‘George Clooney.’”

Ripa asked if Clooney, 62, had reached out, to which Burnett replied, “No, but now I’m thinking about Bradley Cooper.”

For her part, the television personality was eager to help the Emmy-winner make a connection with Cooper.

“Everyone knows that this is the official morning show of Bradley Cooper,” Ripa said. “He loves this show. Brad? Give Carol a call. And you know which phone to use.”

There’s just one thing stopping Burnett from making her 91st birthday wish come true: she has been happily married to Brian Miller for more than 20 years. “I don’t think it’ll work with my husband,” the actress joked.

Ahead of turning 90 last year, Burnett told PEOPLE she still felt as youthful as she did when she was a young woman.

“I can’t wrap my head around it,” Burnett said. “I still feel like I’m about 11, but I’m amazed. It sure went fast. But I’m glad because I’ve got all my parts — got my hips, I got my knees and I’ve got my brain, so I’m happy about that.”
