Zendaya Teases When Fans Can Expect New Music: ‘Maybe One Day’

Zendaya is still thinking about a singer career — one day!

During an appearance on Friday, April 26’s episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, the Challengers star, 27, was asked about releasing music in the past and insisted that when the “right timing” comes, she may release something again.

“I love music, and it’s something that’s been special to me,” Zendaya told Hudson, 42. “I think being in the music industry, maybe it, it didn’t kill the joy of music, but it’s when you put music and business together. Sometimes it cannot feel so good.”

“You know, I think if the right timing and it came, because I like creating it for myself, but if there was a moment, maybe I would, you know, put out a little something,” the Dune actress teased of when fans can expect new music.

“Don’t get crazy! We’ll see, but maybe one day,” she insisted.

During the interview, Zendaya — who released her debut single “Replay” and self-titled album back in 2013, but has prioritized acting in recent years — also spoke about joining Labrinth on stage at Coachella last year.

Calling the musician “so talented” and a “wonderful person,” she said that she initially turned the performance down. “He asked me if I wanted to come out and perform and immediately I was like ‘oh, absolutely not.’ I was like ‘I can’t do that,’ ” she told Hudson, saying that she thought she’d have “stage fright.”

“I have bad memories of performing live when I was a kid,” Zendaya recalled, but ended up convincing herself that she “can’t run from this forever.”

Coachella marked Zendaya’s first live performance in over seven years. She joined Labrinth to perform the final two songs of his set, “I’m Tired” and “All for Us,” the latter of which was written for her HBO series, Euphoria.
