All-rounders in WPL auction: Like the Indian Premier League (IPL), there was a craze for all-rounders in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction as well. Out of 87 players bought in WPL, 46 players were all-rounders. 34.3 crore rupees were looted on these. Every franchise kept at least 7 all-rounders in their squad. Of the 14 Australian players bought, 9 were all-rounders. The franchisees spent Rs 9.6 crore on these 9 players.
17 players were bought as bowlers in the WPL auction. Only 6.15 crore rupees were spent on these. The remaining 24 players were either wicketkeeper-batsmen or specialist batsmen.
