Elon Musk Company Starlink: Tesla CEO Elon Musk's satellite internet service Starlink has received principal approval from the Telecom Ministry. Indian users were waiting for this for a long time, after which now finally Starlink can enter India. It has been told in a report that the file of Starlink is currently with Communication Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Ashwini Vaishnav is waiting for final approval from the Home Ministry on some security related issues.
According to TOI report, only when Starlink gets all the approvals, Starlink will get the license for Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite Service to provide services in India. The report also quoted sources as saying that the commercial parts of Starlink such as net worth and foreign investment have been investigated. It has come to light that this application is as per the guidelines.
Company submitted ownership declaration
Quoting sources in the report, it has been further said that all the necessary technical things as per the license conditions have been checked. Besides, the company has also submitted the ownership declaration. In terms of ownership, the government wanted to ensure that Starlink did not have any stakeholder from any country that shares a land border with India. Along with this, the ministry has also made it mandatory that KYC details and customer information of Indian users should not go out of the country.
Apart from this, the government needs an undertaking from the company that the traffic of Indian air and water space ends only at the local gateway. Also, data beam from satellite should come only to India. The company has also assured the officials regarding this that it has a solution to deal with this.
