Southern Railway launches special trains on these routes before Lok Sabha first phase polls on 19 April 2024 know details

Special Train for Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections is to be held in the country on 19 April 2024. In view of the Lok Sabha elections, Railways has made special arrangements for this. Southern Railway has announced to run a special train from Chennai Central Railway Station to Bengaluru. This will facilitate the passengers to return to their place of work after voting on the day of voting. Voting is to be held for 39 Lok Sabha seats of Tamil Nadu on 19 April 2024. We are giving you information about the schedule of this special train.

Special train will run between Chennai-Bangalore

According to the official notification issued by Southern Railway, Lok Sabha Election Special train will be operated between MGR Chennai Central to Bengaluru Whitefield Railway Station in Chennai. Train number 06005/06006 will depart from Chennai Central Railway Station at 5.35 am on 18th April and 20th April 2024 and reach Bengaluru at 12 noon. This special train will leave from Bengaluru at 1 pm and reach Chennai by 7 pm. Down train is also being operated on 18th and 20th April. Apart from AC first class, this train will also have AC two tyre, AC 3 tyre, sleeper coach and three general coaches.

Lok Sabha special train is also being run between these cities

Apart from Chennai and Bengaluru, Southern Railway has also decided to run special trains between Tambaram and Kanyakumari. Will run between Tambaram and Kanyakumari (06001/06002). Tambaram-Kanyakumari Superfast Special will depart from Tambaram at 4.45am on 18th and 20th April and reach Kanyakumari at 4.40am on the next day. The train from Kanyakumari will depart at 8.30 pm on April 19 and 21 and will reach Tambaram at 9.20 pm on the next day.

Special train also running between Chennai Egmore-Coimbatore

In view of the elections in Tamil Nadu, Southern Railway has also decided to run a special train between Chennai Egmore-Coimbatore. Will run between train number 06003/06004. The train will depart from Chennai Egmore at 4.25 pm on 18th and 20th April 2024 and reach Coimbatore at 8.20 am on the next day. The train from Coimbatore will depart at 8.40 pm on 19th and 21st April 2024 and reach Chennai at 10.05 am on the next day.
