Christchurch Test: Sri Lanka has strengthened its hold against New Zealand in the Christchurch Test. The Lankan team dominated the first two days of this test. On the first day, the batsmen performed brilliantly and on the second day, the bowlers made the condition of Kiwi batsmen thin. If the Sri Lankan team wins this test and maintains its performance in the next test as well, then Team India may be in trouble.

Actually, Team India is lagging behind in the India-Australia Test being played in Ahmedabad. If Team India does not win the Ahmedabad Test and Sri Lanka makes a clean sweep of New Zealand in the two-match Test series, then the Sri Lankan team will reach the WTC final instead of India.

Sri Lanka’s first innings ended on 355 runs.
On the first day of the Christchurch Test, Sri Lanka scored 305 runs losing 6 wickets. Sri Lanka scored this score thanks to the innings of Kusal Mendis (87), Dimuth Karunaratne (50), Angelo Mathews (47) and Dinesh Chandimal (39). On the second day, the Lankan team could not add more runs to their score and soon got all out. Dhananjay D’Silva added only 7 runs in his unbeaten innings of the previous day and got out. He scored 46 runs. As soon as he was out, back to back wickets fell and the Lankan team was reduced to 355 runs. For New Zealand, Tim Southee took 5 wickets and Matt Henry took 4 wickets.

Sri Lankan bowlers blast
New Zealand started their first innings in a very precise way. The Kiwi opening pair added 67 runs for the first wicket. Here Devan Conway (30) returned to the pavilion. As soon as this partnership broke, Kane Williamson (1) and Henry Nicholls (2) also returned back to back pavilion. New Zealand had lost their 3 wickets for 76 runs. Tom Latham was standing at one end. He became Sri Lanka’s fourth victim by scoring 67 runs. Before the end of the second day’s play, the Sri Lankan bowlers also made Tom Blundell (7) walk. In this way, till stumps on the second day, the Kiwi team scored 162 runs losing 5 wickets.

For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando and Lahiru Kumara took 2-2 wickets, Kasun Rajitha also took one wicket. On the third day of the match, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell (40) and Michael Bracewell (9) will be responsible for sailing the Kiwi team. At present, the New Zealand team is trailing by 193 runs against Sri Lanka’s first innings.
