Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan: A few months ago, during the India vs England Test series, news came out that BCCI had removed Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from the list of central contracts. He was punished for not playing for his team in domestic cricket. Usually, whenever BCCI takes any decision, the first finger is pointed at Board Secretary Jai Shah. But now Shah has made a big revelation that he had no role in the exclusion of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from the list of central contracts. This decision was taken by Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar.
Ajit Agarkar had taken the decision
Speaking to the media, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, “You can read all the laws. I just coordinate the meetings. Such decisions are in the hands of Ajit Agarkar. Even when Ishan Kishan and When Shreyas Iyer was released from the contract for not playing domestic cricket, it was Agarkar's job to implement the decisions. Now a new player has entered the team in the form of Sanju Samson. Yes. This decision is also Agarkar's.”
Jai Shah had talked to Iyer and Kishan
When Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were dropped from the Indian team. When they were left out of the list of central contracts, Jai Shah had talked to both the players. Giving a statement in this regard, Jai Shah said, “Yes, I spoke to both of them. These reports were also running in the media.”
Kishan and Iyer are out of T20 World Cup squad
Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer have performed well in IPL 2024. Still, his return to the Indian team seems far away at the moment. He has not been included in the T20 World Cup squad. Let us tell you that the selectors ignored Ishan Kishan and chose Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson as wicketkeeper batsmen. Whereas Shreyas Iyer bats in the middle order, but the middle order slots are already filled in the team.
