Rohit Sharma's fastest innings: On December 7, 2022, i.e. exactly one year ago, Rohit Sharma had played an innings which he might not be able to play again in his career. Actually that ODI match is being played between India and Bangladesh on the ground of Mirpur. In that match, Bangladesh won the toss, and decided to bat first. In the very second over of the match, the ball hit the thumb of Rohit Sharma standing at second slip, and the catch was dropped. Along with this, Team India captain Rohit Sharma's thumb also got fractured.

Rohit got injured in the second over of the match

Rohit Sharma had to leave the field in the second over of the match and in his place Rajat Patidar came on the field to field. Bangladesh scored 271 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs, which also included a century from Mehdi Hasan Miraz. Coming at number-8, Mehdi played an unbeaten inning of 100 runs in 83 balls, and took his team to a good score. Team India, which came to chase this target of Bangladesh, did not have a good start, and got 4 wickets out for just 65 runs.

However, after that there was a brilliant partnership of 124 runs between Shreyas Iyer and Akshar Patel, in which Team India was brought back into the match. Akshar was out after scoring 56 runs in 56 balls and Shreyas Iyer was out after scoring 82 runs in 102 balls. After that, Team India was once again in trouble, and then Rohit Sharma at number-9 came on the field with his fractured thumb.

The course of the match changed in the last few overs

Rohit made the Indian fans happy again by hitting two sixes and a four off Ebadat Hussain in the 45th over. Team India needed 40 runs to win in the two overs left after the 48th over, but the Bangladeshi bowlers had surrendered even in front of Rohit's fractured finger. Rohit played an unbeaten inning of 51 runs in 28 balls, but could not get much support from the other end, and Team India lost that match by just 5 runs. Rohit had told in the presentation after the match that, thankfully, the thumb was dislocated and some stitches were put, so I was able to bat. Had it been completely broken, I would not have been able to bat.
