RBI: Unemployment remains a matter of concern in the country. The government claims to take all necessary steps in this direction. But, there is not much improvement in the condition at present. According to the report of International Labor Organization (ILO), in the year 2022, the share of youth in the total unemployed population of India was about 83 percent. RBI member Ashima Goyal has also admitted that unemployment is currently highest in the young age group. However, he expressed hope that this situation can improve soon. Youth are spending a lot of time in acquiring skills and looking for jobs.
This unemployment among youth is temporary
Ashima Goyal, member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that this unemployment among the youth is temporary. The country's economy is getting stronger. Due to this, the employment situation in the country is improving. He said that youth unemployment is higher among more qualified people. However, they also earn higher salaries. This is why youth are spending more time in acquiring skills and looking for jobs.
Startup culture developed rapidly
Ashima Goyal was answering a question on the ILO report. He said that unemployment is highest for the young age group. But, there is nothing to worry because it is temporary. Indian youth are also busy developing their own businesses. This is the reason why startup culture has also developed rapidly in India.
Unemployment cannot be reduced only by government jobs.
Goyal said that the ILO report also shows that youth unemployment has decreased in the recent past. Opportunities for youth can be increased through better health, infrastructure, insurance, education and skill training facilities. Unemployment in the country cannot be reduced just by providing government jobs.
