Prithvi Shaw in Ranji Trophy: Prithvi Shaw has played a wonderful innings in Ranji Trophy. He scored 379 runs in a match of Elite Group-B. Playing for Mumbai, he made this record score against Assam. This is the second highest individual score in the history of Ranji Trophy.
Prithvi Shaw scored 379 runs in his innings playing 382 balls. That is, his strike rate was almost equal to 100. He hit 49 fours and 4 sixes in this innings. Due to this innings, he broke the 32-year-old record of Sanjay Manjrekar, who played the second highest innings in Ranji Trophy. Manjrekar scored 377 against Hyderabad in 1991 while playing for Mumbai.
Prithvi Shaw missed the record of playing the biggest innings in Ranji Trophy in this match. This record is registered in the name of Bhausaheb Nimbalkar. Nimbalkar played an unbeaten inning of 443 against Kathiwad while playing for Maharashtra in 1948-49. However, due to his innings, Shaw crossed the highest score of Ranji Trophy of many veterans. He overtook veterans like Vijay Merchant (359), VVS Laxman (353), Cheteshwar Pujara (352) and Sunil Gavaskar (340).
Made a special record too
Due to his wonderful innings, Prithvi Shaw has also made a unique record in domestic cricket. He is the first player to have scored a century in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, double century in Vijay Hazare Trophy and triple century in Ranji Trophy. At present, for the last one year, Prithvi Shaw has been performing well in domestic cricket, although despite this he has not been able to find a place in the Indian team.
