JJ Watt Discovers He Has a ‘Skinny’ Doppelgänger Playing Basketball for the Knicks

Retired NFL star JJ Watt discovered he has a doppelgänger in the NBA — New York Knicks’ center. Isaiah Hartenstein!

After the Knicks secured their second win over the Philadelphia 76ers in a thrilling buzzer-beating finish on Monday night, Watt, 35, shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) pointing out how much Hartenstein, 25, resembles the former NFL defensive end.

The original post on X said, “Hartenstein from the Knicks kind of looks like a 7 foot @JJWatt,” with a bunch of laughing emojis.

Watt quoted the post and wrote, “Tell me why I’m just casually scrolling my timeline and caught myself saying ‘why would someone create skinny me on the Knicks in 2k?'”

One user replied, “Dang dude! Uncanny!,” to the photo of Hartenstein.

Hartenstein, a 7-foot tall center, posted 14 points, eight rebounds and four points in New York’s win over Philadelphia to give the Knicks a two-game advantage over the Sixers in the first round of NBA playoffs.

With 27 seconds left in the game, the Knicks scored eight points to steal the victory from the 76ers. The series will move to Philadelphia for Game 3 on April 25.

Watt’s doppelgänger discovery comes just a few months after his appearance was compared to another familiar face. In February, Watt traded in his usual sleek coif for a spiky, gelled-up style for his hair, drawing comparisons to celebrity chef and TV personality, Guy Fieri.

“Ever change your hair and wonder if anyone will notice? They notice,” the former defensive end joked in a post on X.

Fieri, 56, replied to Watt’s post, writing, “I, for one, thought it was a good look @JJWatt.”

And soon, Watt may have his actual mini-me running around the court. In January, he told PEOPLE how his son Koa, 17 months, whom he shares with his wife Kealia Watt, is discovering his love of sports.

“He’s really loving sports. He’s got his own little basketball hoop and he loves to put the ball in the hoop,” Watt said. “He’s got some mini hockey sticks and he’s finally learning how to use two hands on the hockey stick, which is great.”

Kealia, a former professional soccer player, and Watt said it’s been fun to watch the toddler’s different skills develop and see where his interests lead him.

“We obviously love sports because of everything that they teach kids. They teach discipline, they teach hard work, they teach teamwork. They teach how to deal with winning and losing, how to deal with adversity,” Watt shared.
