Jacques Kallis: Recently, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra had said that now it is difficult to get a fast bowling all-rounder like Hardik Pandya from IPL. He attributed this to the 'Impact Players' rule used in IPL. Now the statement of great all-rounder Jacques Kallis has come on this line. He has said that due to too much cricket, good all-rounders are no longer being made. This problem has become very deep especially in Test cricket.
This former South African cricketer, who came to India to play Legends League cricket, said, 'All-rounders are not born every day. Even if you look at the entire history, you will not find many all-rounders. It is a bit difficult to answer why good all-rounders are not emerging at present. There can be many reasons for this. Certainly playing too much cricket can be a major reason.
Here Jacques Kallis also raised questions on the impact player rule of IPL. He said, 'There is an option of substitute in some T20 tournaments. I don't like this rule because it will make all-rounders disappear from your teams. Those teams which do not have good all-rounders will play with 12 players because of this rule. That's why I don't like this rule. Kallis says, 'There are many such small reasons due to which not many all-rounders are found in today's time even though they hold a lot of importance in the game.'
The list of great all-rounders is long
Jacques Kallis is counted among the greatest all-rounders of all time. This fast bowling all-rounder has taken more than 25 thousand runs and more than 600 wickets in his international career. Before Kallis, there were many great fast bowling all-rounders like Sir Gary Sobers, Kapil Dev, Imran Khan, Ian Botham and Richard Hadlee. However, with the entry of T20 cricket and the continuous growth of franchise cricket across the world, there has been a shortage of fast bowling all-rounders in recent times. This lack is felt especially strongly in Test cricket. At present, only a few fast bowling all-rounders like Ben Stokes are left.
