In which Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting is seen revealing a secret. That secret is regarding the use of spring bat in the World Cup 2003.
Spring bat and Ricky Ponting connection
Ricky Ponting was accused of using a spring bat against India in the 2003 World Cup final. In that final match, Ponting played an unbeaten inning of 140 runs, which also included 8 sixes. Due to that performance, Australia had scored 359 runs.
People believed that it was with the help of spring that Ponting was able to hit such long shots with such ease. This rumor has been going on for more than 20 years.
In 2020, Ponting shared the picture of his bat used in that final match. But, jokingly, people asked him to show the bat which had a spring in it!
What is there in that sting operation?
Recently Delhi Capitals shared a video named Sting Operation on its social media page. In this video, content creator Satish Ray humorously asked Ponting about the spring bat used in the 2003 World Cup final. Earlier, Delhi Capitals head coach Ponting also jokingly said that he had used a spring bat. But later he exposed this myth and said that he had never even heard about a spring bat.
