Indian Railways Food: There is always a big complaint of the passengers of Indian Railways and that is about the food available in it. Often railway passengers keep demanding that Railways should take steps to provide them tasty food. Now in view of this, the Central and Western Railways of the country have taken an initiative. Indian Railways has started work on a new scheme in collaboration with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Together they have started providing “Economy Meals” to railway passengers in which clean, tasty, quality, hygienic food is being served for only Rs 20.
2 types of meals are being sold
Under these economic meals, two types of meals are being sold and especially for the passengers who travel in general coach – these meals are available for them. In this, the price of economy meal is Rs 20 and the price of snack meal is Rs 50.
Know the special features of this offer
- These meal counters have become operational at about 100 stations in the country.
- These economy meal counters are running at a total of 150 railway stations across the country, which also includes 12 stations of South Central Railway.
- Initially this facility was started with 50 stations.

At which stations the facility is available?
These cheap miles are available at Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Vikramabad, Pakala, Nandyal, Purna, Aurangabad railway stations. Apart from this, arrangements for water have also been made at the counters near the general second class coach on the platform.
Also available at these stations of Central Railway
This facility is available at Karjat and Igatpuri stations of Central Railway while this facility is available at Mumbai Central and Bandra Terminus railway stations of Western Railway. Arrangements are being made by the Railways to ensure that passengers get this facility easily.
