India G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant: India's G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant said on Thursday that India needs to achieve 9-10 percent growth rate in the next three decades to become a $35 trillion economy by 2047. Amitabh Kant said that India will become the third largest economy by 2027, surpassing Japan and Germany.

Amitabh Kant said, “Our ambition should be that by 2047 we not only become a $35 trillion economy, but we are also able to increase the per capita income from the current $3,000 to $18,000.” At present the Indian economy is worth 3,600 billion dollars. Kant said that India needs at least 12 states to become champions of growth, and they will have to grow at a rate of more than 10 percent.

The country needs 10 percent growth rate for 30 years.

Amitabh Kant said in the conference of private news channel 'Times Now', “India should grow at a higher rate. India should grow at the rate of 9-10 percent every year for three decades.” India's economy grew at a better-than-expected rate of 8.4 percent in October-December 2023, which is the highest level in the last one and a half years. This has helped in taking the growth rate estimate for the current financial year to 7.6 percent.

States like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Bihar should have high growth rate – Amitabh Kant

He said that the growth rate of states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Bihar should be high. “If these states grow at more than 10 percent, India will grow at more than 10 percent.” Amitabh Kant said that after the Lok Sabha elections, India should start huge reforms in education, health and nutrition.

Increase in rate of core industries encouraging

Eight major industries in India have registered a growth of 6.7 percent in February this year compared to the same month last year. This information has come out from the official data released on Thursday and through this it has also been revealed that the share of goods included in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) is 40.27 percent in eight major industries. Therefore it gives a good indication of the overall industrial growth rate.
