ICC pitch curator prospects for Test matches in the World Test Championship

IND vs AUS 3rd Test: In the Test match being played between India and Australia (IND vs AUS) in Indore, 14 wickets fell on the first day (March 1). The spinners got so much turn right from the start on the Indore pitch that even the Indian batsmen who played well against spin were stunned. On the first day of the match, the Indian team was all out in just 33.2 overs. In such a situation, many questions are being raised regarding the pitch of Indore. One of these questions is also whether there should be ICC pitch curators in the matches played under the World Test Championship?

The four-match Test series currently being played between India and Australia is being played under the WTC only. In this ICC tournament, Test teams have to play a certain number of matches on the basis of home and away format. After this, there is a final match between the top-2 teams in the points table. Now since this tournament is entirely ICC’s, the question of ICC being pitch curator in all the matches of this tournament is also justified.

This change may happen in the next WTC cycle
In fact, in all the ICC tournaments (World Cup, Champions Trophy etc.) played with white ball, everything from umpires to pitch curators and many other things are in the hands of ICC only, while in bilateral and tri-series All these are the responsibility of the host country. Before the start of WTC, Test matches were held only under bilateral series, in such a situation, the host team always manages the pitch curators and other things here. But now that these bilateral Test series are being played under WTC, it is possible that in the coming time, ICC pitch curators will be there in such Test series as well.

Both the teams will get equal chance due to ICC pitch curators
If ICC takes this decision then it will be better for cricket only. This is because at present, in any bilateral series, the host teams prepare pitches according to their respective strengths, as spin-friendly pitches are always prepared in India. If the pitch curators of ICC intervene in these series, then the pitches will be prepared without discrimination and both the teams will have equal chances to win.
