Out of 144,345 samples tested during the survey, 4,890 samples were found unsafe and 16,582 samples substandard. Additionally, labeling errors were found in 11,482 samples. So there has been misleading information on some packaging.

The food regulator has initiated action in at least 4,900 cases, while another 28,906 cases are under investigation. In addition to dietary supplements, the Food Regulatory Authority is working to curb nutraceuticals marketed as substitutes for drugs with pharmaceutical and nutritional properties and to regulate mislabeling of ingredients.
