FM Nirmala Sitharaman: Amidst the Lok Sabha elections, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given a big statement. He said that in the third term of Prime Minister Modi, India will become the third largest economy in the world. Speaking at a program in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, he said that if Modi government is formed once again at the Centre, then in the coming time, India will move from the fifth largest economy in the world to the third largest economy. Along with this, he asked the people of Jharkhand to vote in the interest of the country. He said that we want Jungle Raj to end in Jharkhand.
India will become the third largest economy
Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said in November 2023 that India will soon become the third largest economy in the world, leaving behind Japan and Germany. In such a situation, this statement of the Finance Minister indicates that India may soon reach the third position in terms of economy.
IMF also gave good signals
Earlier, the International Monetary Fund has also increased the estimates of India's GDP. According to IMF, India's economy can grow at the rate of 6.5 percent in the financial year 2025. This is 0.30 percent more than the earlier estimate. In view of the increasing demand in the domestic market, IMF has changed its estimates. According to the Ministry of Statistics, India's economy grew at the rate of 8.4 percent in the December quarter. Along with this, Chief Economic Advisor V. Ananth Nageswaran, while giving an important statement on India's GDP, had said that India's economy will grow by 8 percent in the financial year 2024.
Lok Sabha elections going on in the country
Currently, Lok Sabha elections are going on in the country for the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha. Elections are to be held in a total of seven phases, out of which voting has been done for three phases. Counting of votes will take place on June 4. Voting for the fourth phase of elections will be held on May 13 in which votes will be cast on a total of 96 seats in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir. Along with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections are also being held in four states of the country, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Andhra Pradesh.
