Who the Farmers Picked on Decision Day

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Farmer Wants of Wife.

The Farmer Wants a Wife season 2 leads were faced with making a very tough decision.

There is one final episode, airing May 16, that will serve as a reunion special and reveal where everyone now stands. But before that, this week’s May 9 episode showed the four farmers having honest conversations with their final two women — and choosing who they ultimately want to spend their lives with on the farm.

All season long, Farmer Brandon Rogers, Farmer Mitchell Kolinsky, Farmer Ty Ferrell and Farmer Nathan Smothers have navigated several challenges in their search for true love. Week after week, they continued dwindling their respective group of women before landing at their remaining contenders. Farmer Brandon, 29, was left with Grace and Emerson; Farmer Mitchell, 27, was down to Kait and Sydney; Farmer Ty, 42, had Melody and Megan; and Farmer Nathan had Allye and Taylor.

Farmer Brandon

Farmer Brandon was the first of the four leads to make his choice on decision day. Before he could do that, he had a heart-to-heart with his dad, seeking guidance for the important choice.

“It’s a big, big commitment. You’ve gotta take into consideration that this is somebody that you want to be best friends with,” his father said, noting that Brandon “has to be totally honest” with himself. “This decision will be from your heart and I have 100 percent confidence that you’ll make the right decision. And no matter who you pick, I will love them very much.”

In meeting Grace and Emerson separately, Brandon took his father’s advice and followed his heart, choosing Grace over Emerson. He told Emerson, who joined halfway through the competition, that he hasn’t “been able to connect super deeply emotionally” with her despite the pair both coming from farming backgrounds.

Although Brandon was admittedly hesitant to pick Grace due to her life being so deeply ingrained in the big city, he still believed there was “a lot of upside” to moving forward with her.

“I really feel like we have established a really good emotional connection,” he continued. “I would like to see where that emotional connection will take us.”

Agreeing with Brandon, Grace said she doesn’t “want to lose” him and was “ecstatic to see where the next step takes us.”

Farmer Mitchell

As Farmer Mitchell stepped up to the plate, he had to choose between his “two, great, beautiful women,” Kait and Sydney.

In first speaking with Kait, Mitchell noted that some of his “fondest memories” during this experience were associated with her. He also believed Kait had “so many qualities” that he would want in a wife. However, the farmer still didn’t think she was the right partner for him.

“Kait, it’s been a true pleasure, but unfortunately, I feel a struggle in that connection and I feel like I do have a stronger connection with somebody else,” he said. “I want you to know that I’m so thankful for you. It’s an emotional roller coaster for me and it’s hard to say goodbye. I want the best for you.”

Acknowledging how she wished she navigated the process differently early on, Kait still felt like she was a “better person” after meeting Mitchell and was thankful for him.

In Mitchell’s conversation with Sydney, it was apparent that she was The One he had been searching for. The pair even held hands as they spoke, allowing Sydney to feel “more calm.”

“There’s not many things that make this heart of mine, I guess, spill out and be vulnerable, be all romantic,” Mitchell admitted to Sydney. “But with you, I feel that way.”

Sharing a similar sentiment, Sydney said, “I never, like, have felt feelings for someone like I have with you, actually. Very scary! You know, maybe this is it. This is what I’ve been looking for my whole life.”

“Sydney, I think it is so special to think about the future with you and it just makes me so happy to think about all of the things that can come from this beautiful relationship that we do have,” he said. “I want you to join this life of adventure with me, and farming is just the beginning!

Saying “yes” to his offer, the two embraced in an emotional kiss before he lifted her and carried her away.

Farmer Ty

Farmer Ty was down to Melody and Megan as decision time approached. However, Ty made a shocking choice: he broke things off with both ladies.

Starting with Melody, he noted that there was “such an attraction” from the beginning and “so many good things that we shared.” He also praised Melody’s “impressive” ability for being “the first to jump in and do anything” around the farm. Yet, he still was hesitant about moving forward.

“After the family visits and experience and you in New York, it’s brought up a lot of questions, concerns of you being part of the city. Could you 100 percent fully commit yourself to being here?” he said. “I want somebody that just fully wants to live and be in this place and that falls completely in love with it. For us to move forward, I shouldn’t have any concerns.”

Ty added: “I don’t think that I should move forward. It’s a hard thing to do but it’s the right thing to do.”

Melody admitted she “was not expecting that all all,” but noted that “it’s okay” because they’re “from completely different worlds.” She then told the cameras that she was “sad” because “things didn’t turn out” the way she had hoped.

Ty later told Megan that while the connection they’ve made is “strong” and is “different than any other connection” he made on the farm, he still believes that what they’ve built is a “friendship.” Ty, who is already a father, also expressed his desire to not have more children, which would put a damper on Megan’s plans since she aspires to become a mom someday. (He would later retract the “friendship” statement in a confessional.)

“Through this, there’s part of me that thought coming into this, I was open to children. But for me, to be honest, I’ve learned through it that I’m not 100 percent there. For me knowing that I don’t want to have kids, I don’t think I should be in a place where I should keep you from having them,” he said. “Also, it’s something with that connection that we’ve got and for me, it’s such a strong connection that it’s been a that it’s a friendship connection. I’m just not 100 percent there that you’re my forever person.”

These revelations ultimately “confused” Megan but she was “proud” for how she’s opened herself up to the process. She then wished Ty the best going forward, though she was in tears over his decision and felt like she was “not good enough” to receive love.

“I knew that neither one of them was my forever person,” Ty then told the cameras. “And I had to be real with myself.”

Farmer Nathan

Farmer Nathan was the last to pick between his two women, Allye and Taylor.

First speaking to Allye, he praised her for helping him to “open up and express” himself better. He then raved about Allye being “fantastic” with his family, also noting that there were “late sparks” on their final solo date. Although he could “picture” himself being with Allye in the future, Nathan still had his “concerns.”

“You and I both have been very slow-moving. I’ve seen glimpses of the whole Allye and then there’s times where I have a little bit of reservations because I’ve only seen that at little bits of time,” he explained. “This time that I’ve had with you had been fantastic and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but I think that I’m going to have to go a different direction.”

Allye said it’s “hard to say goodbye” especially because she “came into this with a lot of walls built up” and he helped “tear all those walls down” and showed her “what I deserve.” She then wished him the best, saying that he deserves “the world.”

As Taylor approached him for decision time, Nathan — who was admittedly nervous about Taylor not saying yes — said he was “automatically drawn” to her from their very first meeting. He then praised her for her ability to navigate the farm, adding that she is who he’s “been looking for practically my whole life.”

“The big thing that I’ve been concerned about is if you were willing to move to Florida,” he continued. “I want to go on this road with you and I don’t expect you to move right now, but I’m crazy about you.”

Taylor then said, “I feel like you’re everything I’ve been looking for in life. You’re like my best friend now and I feel like that’s somebody that that’s worth making that sacrifice for and just taking that leap of faith with.”

After telling Taylor he’s “falling in love” with her, Nathan then asked her to join him on the farm. Taylor accepted his offer and told him she was also falling in love with him. The two then kissed.
