Everest Fish Curry Masala: The country's famous spice company Everest Masala has suffered a major setback. Everest Fish Curry Masala has been banned in Singapore. While issuing the order on Thursday, Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said that the amount of ethylene oxide in this spice is very high. It is not fit for human consumption. Ethylene Oxide is a pesticide. It cannot be used in food. However, it can be used in cleaning spices.
Order issued to recall Everest Fish Curry Masala
Issuing a statement, the Singapore Food Agency said that the Center for Food Safety has issued a notification for the return of Everest Fish Curry Masala. There is more than the prescribed quantity of ethylene oxide in it. This masala brand was imported by SP Muthiah & Sons Pte Ltd in Singapore. SFA has instructed the company to initiate a recall of this product.
Everest Masala gave clarification, will fully investigate the matter
According to the report of Vion, the company has given a statement that Everest is a 50 year old reputed brand. All our products are manufactured and exported only after stringent testing. We strictly follow cleanliness and food safety standards. Our products have the seal of approval from all agencies including Indian Spice Board and FSSAI. Before every export, our products undergo testing by the Spice Board of India. At present we are waiting for official information. Our quality control team will thoroughly investigate this matter.
SFA appeals to customers to avoid eating this spice
SFA has appealed to the customers not to use Everest Masala in their food for the time being. If customers have already purchased it then avoid using it for now. The Food Agency has said that if ethylene oxide is used for a long time, it can cause health problems. If you were using it and are concerned about your health, you can consult a doctor.
