E-Commerce: Collusion of Amazon-Flipkart with mobile companies, irregularities found in CCI investigation

Leading e-commerce companies like Amazon and Flipkart may face difficulties in India in the coming days. These companies, which dominate the e-commerce sector, have been accused of colluding with sellers to eliminate competition. Now it is being claimed in the news that these allegations have been found true and the regulator has found evidence of irregularities in the investigation.

This claim regarding CCI's investigation

Zee Business According to a report, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has found irregularities in its investigation against e-commerce companies and mobile manufacturers like Amazon and Flipkart. Leading e-commerce companies have been found to be in nexus with mobile manufacturers. It is being told that e-commerce companies like Amazon and Flipkart were taking business decisions of their associate companies themselves.

CAT had made this demand

Big companies like Amazon and Flipkart. There have already been allegations against e-commerce companies of adopting various tactics to eliminate competition. Earlier in February, retail traders' organization CAT had written a letter to competition regulator CCI complaining about Amazon and Flipkart. CAT had demanded CCI to investigate the allegations of adopting anti-competition practices on Amazon and Flipkart. CAT's allegation was that irregularities worth Rs 25 thousand crores are being committed by both the major e-commerce companies, due to which the livelihood of retailers and small shopkeepers is being affected.

Reaction of mobile retailers

Reacting to the report of irregularities in the CCI investigation, the All India Mobile Retailers Association has expressed happiness. The association said that it is happy with the news of CCI's action against collusion by Xiaomi, Poco, OnePlus, Realme, Motorola, Samsung, Vivo etc. with e-commerce platforms in India. The association has demanded punitive action against all the companies involved in collusion.

This was causing controversy

In fact, it has become a trend that mobile companies -Making exclusive deals with commerce platforms. New mobile phones are being made available for sale only on a particular e-commerce platform. Due to this, resentment was being seen among the retailers and those running offline stores. They alleged that this step is going to end healthy competition in the market.
