The rising prices of various pulses during the election season is troubling the government. Due to this, the government is continuously making efforts to control the prices of pulses. Now the Consumer Affairs Secretary has held a meeting with various parties in this regard and taken stock of the stock and availability.
Consumer Ministry gave statement
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said in an official statement issued on Saturday that the availability has been reviewed in collaboration with various stakeholders, including pulse traders. For this, Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare has held a meeting with representatives of the pulses industry.
Action will be taken if non-compliance
Earlier, the Central Government had directed all the states to ensure disclosure of stocks of various pulses by traders on a weekly basis. The central government had directed to monitor the stock of arhar dal, urad dal, chana dal, masoor dal and moong dal, besides imported yellow pea dal. The latest meeting was held in the same connection, in which the Secretary told the representatives of the pulses industry that strict action will be taken under the Essential Commodities Act against the traders who do not follow the instructions.
