Asia's largest slum, Dharavi, is the size of New York's Central Park. Lakhs of people reside in it. Thousands of small houses have been built in this small area. Dharavi slum is a poor colony inside the country's financial capital Mumbai. Thousands of people in this area do not have access to clean water and clean toilets.

Adani Group has to develop 625 acres area

Adani Group had bid $619 million for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project. Under this, Adani Group has to develop 625 acres (253 hectares) area. It is being described as the world's largest urban development plan. DRPPL was established in July.

The first attempt was made in 1980

Despite the opposition to this project, work is being done. For the first time an attempt was made to bring a project for the development of Dharavi in ​​1980. But, due to some reason or the other, the project kept getting postponed every time. The Maharashtra government finally approved this project in July. Even after this, demonstrations continue against this project again and again. Recently, Congress had alleged that the protesting residents of Dharavi were being threatened with the help of retired police officers.
