flesh eating bacteria Many times we fall and get hurt while playing as children. Some children hide their injuries out of fear of their parents. Many times such injury takes a serious form later. Many times we treat the injury at home or take pain killers. But is it right to do so? You must be asking this question after reading what happened to a little boy in America. In America, the bacteria entered the body of a child through a wound on the body. The bacteria was so deadly that it completely consumed the boy’s body from inside and this was the cause of his death.
What actually happened?
An 11-year-old boy fell while running on a treadmill in the US. After the fall, he injured his leg and ankle. At the place where the child was injured, a dark brown ulcer first developed. Over time its color turned purple and then red. The boy’s parents realized that the injury was more serious and took the boy to the hospital. The child was examined in the hospital. When the doctor examined, a strange infection was found in the child’s body. After this the child was immediately admitted to the ICU.
Further investigation in this case revealed that the child was infected with flesh-eating bacteria. The flesh-eating bacteria entered the child’s body through the wound and started gnawing the child’s body from inside. A few days later the child developed brain swelling and later died.
One death due to ‘this’ infection in India too
Meanwhile, in India also a patient had died due to this infection a few years ago. A 44-year-old man died of the infection at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The doctor told that this person died due to flesh-eating bacteria. In medical language, this virus is called necrotizing fasciitis.
flesh eating bacteria
Flesh-eating bacteria is known as necrotizing fasciitis. This is a rare bacterial skin infection. This bacteria destroys the cells and tissues of the body. It can be fatal if not treated on time. Necrotizing fasciitis spreads rapidly throughout the body of an infected person. This destroys the skin and underlying tissue and the patient dies.
How does this bacterium attack?
According to doctors, this strange flesh-eating bacteria severely infects the skin and underlying tissues. It spreads very fast and can kill anyone if not treated on time. Necrotizing Fasciitis directly attacks the blood vessels. This attack is so dangerous that the blood supply in the body stops completely. An average of 600 to 700 patients are hospitalized each year in the United States for treatment of this dangerous bacterial infection. Of these, 25 to 30 percent die from the infection.
