Braunwyn Windham-Burke, GF and ex Sean discuss dynamic in joint interview

Settling into a new normal was no easy feat for Braunwyn Windham-Burke, her girlfriend, Jennifer Spiner, and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Sean Burke — but they’re making it work.

The trio convened on camera for the first time in an exclusive joint interview with Page Six, breaking down their rare dynamic and their commitment to co-parenting seven children.

“Obviously, it’s uncomfortable and awkward, but we spend time together,” Braunwyn, 45, tells us from her Newport Beach, California, home, which is located next to Spinner, 38, sitting nearby. with a massive L-shaped sectional. ,

“They get along very well,” the “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum continues, praising the friendship her husband and current partner have built.

Braunwyn – who came out as a lesbian in December 2020 – finally filed for divorce from Sean last October, opening the way for them to argue over everything from finances and future custody arrangements to cleaning habits Went.

Sean claims that he and Spinner are “very grounded”, referring to Braunwyn as a “volcano”.

Meanwhile, Braunwyn only feels drawn to the juxtaposition, she tells Page Six.

“They have a tendency where they both gang up on me and I hate it,” the blonde beauty admits before addressing the spinner directly, “because he puts me down a lot and then you’re like , ‘Yes.’ And I’m like, ‘No, you can’t do that.’ I hate it.”

This assessment forces the spinner to react. “Well, I guess it’s not gangs,” says the nonprofit executive. “I think it’s just two people with the same point of view trying to coach someone.”

As a child of divorce, Spinner feels equipped to provide emotional support to Braunwyn, Sean, and their estranged brother in times of conflict.

“My parents are divorced and I know what it’s like to be a little kid when your parents are in the middle of figuring out what a divorce is going to look like,” she says, always trying to keep her kids busy. To appreciate the parents for. First.

“They always focus on the kids, that’s their No. 1. That’s what they share,” notes Spinner. “But it’s really easy to have a conversation in the heat of the moment and not realize that kids are necessarily absorbing everything.”

“I love him so much, I will always defend him and take his side,” she says.

Braunwyn confesses that she “listens” to Spinner, whom she respects, considering her children when she struggles.

Although Spinner helps Braunwyn and Sean keep the peace at home, he has no legal pressure as the pair strike out a custody agreement in court.

“I want joint legal, but [sole] Physical custody of the kids because I want them to live in Tennessee,” says Braunwyn, who is set to move with her youngest children and spinster to Franklin, Tenn., in April.

The plan is for Sean to stay in the new house while the women are away, a form of “nest” the family has become accustomed to since Braunwyn has decided to separate.

“I want them during the school day… getting them to school on time, homework, after-school activities. I want that because I’m good at it,” she says. “I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for 22 years, so I really excel at that part of parenting.”

Meanwhile, she wants Sean to be there for “weekends and visits and whatever” because “he’s a really fun, great” father.

“I want him to be able to do what he does best, which is bake pancakes and have a good time,” she tells us. “And then I can do what I do best, which is scheduling, remembering, getting permission slips and doctors’ appointments.”

Spinner — who exchanged vows with Braunwyn in a “fake” Las Vegas wedding on Valentine’s Day — then chimes in to defend Shawn, saying, “Let’s not undermine Shawn’s parenting.”

He then shared his own view on the matter, stating that he has a “much stronger role in the children’s lives” than Braunwyn does.

“I see them pretty much every day, even when Braunwyn is in town. Which I love. I love being with them. No complaints there, but I’m there a lot.” he says. “And I always have been.”

Sean feels he took on even more responsibility during Braunwyn’s multiple pregnancies and her past addiction struggles. (He’s been sober for more than three years.)

,[That] has put me in the role of being a critical parent for a long time,” he says, justifying his desire for joint physical custody.

Spinner again tries to restore harmony.

“I think you two complement each other… I think you guys will get to a place where it’s combined. I think you’re both great and you should spend equal time with the kids,” she says. “But it’s not my decision.”

Regardless of how things shake out, Braunwyn and Sean’s kids can appreciate all the love in their lives.

“It’s like three adults who are crazy about them,” notes Spinner. “So he’s getting love from three places and attention from three places – and candy from three places.”
