Bajrang Punia Demand To UWW: Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia has demanded United World Wrestling (UWW) to take action against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). He wrote an open letter to United World Wrestling. Recently World Wrestling had lifted the ban from Indian Wrestling Association. World Wrestling had banned the Indian Association indefinitely due to no elections.

Now Bajrang Punia demanded action against the Indian Union. He said that he is writing regarding the restoration of the Indian Wrestling Federation.

The Indian wrestler wrote in his letter, “This decision has put Indian wrestlers under the ambit of harassment and intimidation through the Indian Wrestling Federation. It is to bring to your attention that the same Indian Wrestling Federation has been banned by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on December 27, 2023 was suspended due to serious discrepancies a few days after taking charge. Similarly, the Indian wrestler wrote in his letter the entire thing that he wanted to say.

The ban was lifted on 13 February

Let us tell you that United World Wrestling had lifted the ban from the Indian Wrestling Federation only on Tuesday (February 13). World Wrestling had canceled the membership of the Indian association indefinitely on August 23, 2023. The reason for cancellation of membership of the Indian Federation was that elections were not held within the stipulated time. The Indian Union had been preparing for elections for 6 months.

United World Wrestling held a meeting on February 9, in which, taking everyone into consideration, it was decided to lift the ban of Indian Wrestling Association with immediate effect. Apart from this, it was also said that the Indian Federation will give a written guarantee to United World Wrestling that they will allow the wrestlers to participate in the tournament in every way without any favoritism.
