Adam Scott Says ‘Severance’ Season 2 Wrapped, Praises Ben Stiller (Exclusive)

Adam Scott has some exciting new updates about Severance!

Speaking to PEOPLE exclusively about his new campaign with Philips Norelco OneBlade, Scott confirms “we have” finished filming the show’s hotly-anticipated second season. Although he can’t reveal too much about what’s to come, he still dished on his initial reaction to reading the new season’s scripts.

“My reaction was, ‘This is great,'” the Parks and Recreation alum, 51, shares. “I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to get there, and get the cameras rolling and film it.”

Scott also says it was “so fun” working alongside the Apple TV+ drama’s expanded, star-studded, season 2 cast — and reteaming with series director Ben Stiller.

“Bob Balaban, Alia Shawkat, Gwendoline Christie, great. Robby Benson, incredible,” he shares. “One of Ben Stiller’s superpowers, I think, is casting and finding the right people for roles. He’s really, really good at it.”

“Our core cast is unbelievable already, but we have some just great people coming in for season two, that I can’t wait for everyone to see,” he continues. “There’s a young woman, Sarah Bach, who’s coming in for season 2, that is a really exciting young actor.”

Severance made its Apple TV+ debut in February 2022, hooking fans in with the story of widower Mark (Scott) after he elected to undergo a procedure through his employer Lumon Industries that allowed him to sever ties between his work and personal life. But he, along with his colleagues (played by Britt Lower, Zach Cherry and John Turturro), begin to unravel the unsettling truth behind the company they work for.

The series has since gained a loyal fanbase who have patiently waited for season 2, which was delayed due to the 2023 writers and actors strikes.

“That was the weirdest thing, is that we were making this show … Innies and Outies … and all these new words, and it was completely in a vacuum, and the whole thing was done. By the time it came out, we had been done for eight months or whatever it is and then, suddenly, it comes out and it works and people like it,” Scott says of the show’s popularity. “So suddenly, Innie and Outie are things out in the world with people is so weird.”

“But then also, we had to be careful about our emails and our conversations about the next season, and had to be super secretive about stuff, which is like … Jesus, just seven months ago, no one gave a s— and we were just making the show,” he continues. “It was just a by product of something landing, was this surreal shift of the entire thing, having to take on this air of secrecy and security and stuff, which is really fun. It’s really fun that people care and that we have to keep secrets and stuff.”

The actor adds, “I guess, it’s just a happy sign that people care, but we’ve been very, very careful.”

Filming for season 2 began in January. Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, Christopher Walken and Patricia Arquette also star in the series.
