This is the biggest increase in assets under management during a single financial year after the financial year 2020-21. In the financial year 2020-21, the mutual fund industry had registered a growth of 41 percent in AUM.

According to the data, during the last financial year Individual investors made the most important contribution to the spectacular growth of the industry. These investors contributed the most in the three equity, hybrid and solution oriented schemes. According to the data till March 2020, the contribution of these three categories in the total AUM of the mutual fund industry was about 58 percent, while their share in the total folio was 80 percent.

In March 2019, the share of these three categories in the AUM of the entire mutual fund industry was 45 percent, which increased to 58 percent after 5 years in March 2024. This means that more than half of the total assets managed by the entire industry are held by these three categories alone.

Debt category booming after two years

Previous The performance of debt funds was somewhat lackluster in the financial year. This category registered a growth of about 7 percent. However, if compared with the previous few years, this would be considered a good growth, because the debt fund category was continuously declining. There was a decline of 2 percent in this category in the financial year 2021-22 and 9 percent in 2022-23. After two consecutive years of decline, the number of folios in the debt fund category also increased during the last financial year.
