Bangladesh cricket team appoints Pakistan's Mushtaq Ahmed as spin coach for T20 World Cup 2024

Mushtaq Ahmed: Before the T20 World Cup 2024, Bangladesh cricket team has made a big move by appointing former Pakistan spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as the spin bowling coach. Mushtaq Ahmed will remain the spin bowling coach of Bangladesh till the T20 World Cup. Bangladesh Cricket Board last Tuesday (April 16) informed about the appointment of the Pakistan legend as the coach. Mushtaq will reach Bangladesh for the preparation camp before the T20 International series to be played against Zimbabwe next month.

Mushtaq replaced former Sri Lankan veteran spinner Rangana Herath, who was in the role since June 2021. After becoming the coach of Bangladesh, Mushtaq appeared very excited. According to 'ESPN' he said, “It is an honor for me to join the Bangladesh cricket team as the spin bowling coach. I am very excited for the role and want to pass on my experience to the players as they are capable of coaching and I always believe that they are one of the most dangerous teams because they have the ability, resources and talent. I will try to give them this opportunity to work with the team. Very excited about it.”

Good experience in coaching

Mushtaq Ahmed worked as the spin bowling coach with the England men's team between 2008 and 2014. Apart from this, he has worked as a bowling consultant with Pakistan from 2014 to 2016. After this, Mushtaq remained associated with Pakistan as spin bowling coach from 2020 to 2022.

Pakistan was part of 1992 World Cup

Let us tell you that Pakistan cricket team won the 1992 World Cup under the captaincy of Imran Khan. Mushtaq Ahmed was also a part of that world winning Pakistan team. It is noteworthy that Mushtaq played 144 ODI and 52 Test matches in his international career.
