Indian Stock Market Closes In Red Due To Profit Booking In Banking And FMCG Stocks

Stock Market Closing On 19th December 2023: After a spectacular rally of two trading sessions, the Indian stock market closed with a decline in Thursday’s session. The market declined due to profit booking in FMCG and banking stocks. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed down by 187 points at 60,858 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed down by 57 points at 18,107 points.

In the market today, IT index, PSU bank index and oil and gas sector shares closed with a boom. While the shares of Banking, Auto, Pharma, Healthcare, Consumer Durables, Energy, Metals sectors closed down. Due to the fall in midcap and smallcap stocks, the index of both has closed in the red mark. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 19 closed with gains while 31 closed with losses. Whereas, out of 30 Sensex stocks, 11 closed with gains while 19 closed with losses.

Looking at the fast moving stocks, Tata Steel closed with a gain of 0.73 per cent, Power Grid 0.66 per cent, Tech Mahindra 0.48 per cent, HDFC Bank 0.43 per cent, Axis Bank 0.33 per cent. So Asian Paints closed down by 2.53 per cent, Tata Motors by 1.91 per cent, Kotak Mahindra by 1.81 per cent, IndusInd Bank by 1.66 per cent, Titan Company by 1.63 per cent.

In today’s business, the market cap of companies listed on BSE has been Rs 281.84 lakh crore, while on Wednesday it was Rs 282.75 lakh crore. Due to that decline, there has been a loss of Rs 91,000 crore.
