DGCA Asked Details From Nepal Authorities For Air India And Nepal Airlines Aircraft Coming Close To Mid-air Collision Matter

DGCA on Air India Plane Matter: India’s aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has sought detailed information from the Nepali authorities in the matter of Air India and Nepal Airlines planes coming close to the extent of mid-air collision. A senior officer has given this information. On Friday morning, Nepal Airlines flight going from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Air India flight coming from Kathmandu to New Delhi came close to the extent of collision in the air.

Air India and Nepal Airlines planes were about to collide in the air

Officials said on Sunday that the warning system alerted the pilots of both the aircraft, so that the accident could be avoided in time. A senior DGCA official said on Sunday that detailed information is being obtained from the Nepali authorities regarding the incident of two planes coming close in the air. He told that Air India has submitted its report to DGCA regarding the incident.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has written a letter to the DGCA requesting it to investigate the matter. CAAN spokesman Jagannath Niroula said that Nepal’s aviation regulator has asked the Indian regulator to take action against the culprits and share its information. Meanwhile, CAAN has suspended three employees of the Air Traffic Control Department on charges of ‘negligence’ in duty in the context of the incident.

According to the official, Indian pilots do not come under the jurisdiction of Nepali authorities. Meanwhile, pending the information, the crew of the Air India aircraft which were involved in the incident is not being given the responsibility of flights.

what is the whole matter

An Air India plane flying at an unauthorized height of 19,000 feet from New Delhi suddenly fell 15,000 feet before landing at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport on Friday. This brought it very close to the Nepal Airlines plane coming from Kuala Lumpur to Kathmandu and the accident was averted after the Nepal Airlines pilots took their plane down to 7,000 feet. The Nepal Airlines plane was at a height of 15,000 feet, when the Air India plane suddenly came to the same height.

Officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) said that as soon as the two collided, an alert automatically sounded in both the cockpits and a potentially fatal accident was averted. According to the information, on the same day the airport authorities in Kathmandu sought an explanation from the Air India pilots. He accepted his mistake and apologized.

A letter was sent to Air India

Following the incident, CAAN has suspended the air traffic controllers (ATC) of Tribhuvan International Airport involved in the traffic clash incident from active control positions till further notice. It has also written to its Indian counterpart that action should be taken against the Air India pilots involved in Friday’s incident. Authority spokesperson Jagannath Niroula said that a letter has been sent to Air India with a message to the Civil Aviation Authority of India to investigate the matter and take action.

Air India has not given any reaction on this whole incident. However, according to news agency IANS, the Aviation Authority of Nepal has banned Air India aircraft from flying in Nepali airspace without the permission of the Air Traffic Controller (ATC). He said, we have written to investigate the incident between Air India and Nepal Airlines and take necessary action and inform the authority.
