India vs Australia Indian team’s weakness in home ODI series due to Team India’s defeat against Australia

Reasons behind the defeat of Team India: It has not been easy for any team to beat Team India on home grounds in all the three formats of cricket. For the last decade, winning a bilateral series in India for visiting teams has been like winning the World Cup. During this, the Indian team had to face defeat only a few times. In the last four years, Team India had not lost any series at home. But this series of not losing at home broke last night (22 March).

Australia defeated the Indian team by 21 runs in Chepauk to win the three-match ODI series 2-1. In the last four years, Australia was the first team to beat India in a series at home. This defeat has come at a time when the ODI World Cup is to be held in India after 6 months. In such a situation, it is not easy for the Indian fans to digest this defeat, especially when the fans are expecting their team to win the World Cup at home.

However, this ODI series has gone out of hand and many weaknesses of Team India have also been exposed. There are some shortcomings in all the three departments of batting, bowling and fielding. Along with this, to a large extent, negligence is also being considered as a major reason for the defeat in this series. Things like maintaining the spirit in difficult situations are also missing from Team India.

Lack of regularity in top order
There was a time when the walk of one of the Indian top order batsmen was decided. One of the batsmen from Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli used to play big innings. This thing was missing from Team India this time. Neither Rohit is in his form nor Kohli is able to play like he used to play earlier. Shikhar Dhawan is out of the team and in his place Shubman Gill has been doing consistently well in ODIs but he was a complete flop in this series.

No one to take responsibility in middle order
At present, there is no batsman in the middle order in the Indian ODI team who can be trusted. KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja play match-winning innings many times but are out of the category of reliable batsmen. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are all-rounders, so there is a double load on them, but here batsmen like Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul are expected to play sensible innings in difficult situations, but these two batsmen disappoint on most occasions.

Need more edge in fast bowling
Although Indian fast bowlers Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj are world class bowlers in ODI cricket, but both these bowlers could not spread much color in this series. Especially when the opposition batsman starts batting fast, then these bowlers are seen under pressure instead of adopting an aggressive attitude. Here Team India is missing a bowler like Bumrah.

Is negligence also a big reason?
The way Team India lost in the second match of this series, negligence was clearly visible there. The pitch at Visakhapatnam was good for batting but the Indian batsmen batted carelessly and lost wickets. Lack of strategy was also visible during bowling. It seemed as if the Indian team went into that match with overconfidence and that is why they lost the match in a shameful manner.

no fighting spirit
Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, we used to see that Team India was successful in defending the target inside 200, it was the fighting spirit of Team India, which seems to be missing now. In the first ODI of this series, Australia’s team was dismissed within 200, but at one time they put Team India in a difficult situation, but when Team India was all out on a small score in the second match, then the Indian team did not allow Australia to win at all. Didn’t bump. It seemed as if Team India had surrendered. This was a major reason for Team India’s ouster in the semi-finals of T20 World Cup 2022 and Asia Cup 2022 as well.
