Fuel Sales Falling In March After Record Uptick In Previous Months Due To Lower Demand

Fuel Demand: There is a large scale consumption of fuels like diesel and petrol in India. With the increasing size of the economy, their consumption is also increasing. This is the reason that last month a new record was created for the sale of diesel and petrol in the country. However, a decline is being seen in the fuel demand during the month of March.

Petrol demand reduced so much

According to preliminary industry data, there has been a decline in fuel sales during the first two weeks of March. During this period, 1.22 million tonnes of petrol were sold, which is 1.4 percent less than the same period a year ago. On a monthly basis, during the first two weeks of March, petrol sales decreased by 0.50 per cent.

Diesel demand also declined

If we talk about diesel, the most consumed fuel in the country, then its demand has also decreased. During March 01 to March 15, the demand for diesel in the country came down by 10.2 percent to 3.18 million tonnes. In the same period a year ago, 3.54 million tonnes of diesel was consumed in the country. On a monthly basis, the demand for diesel has declined by 4.6 percent during this period.

came so fast in february

Earlier, if we look at the figures of February, during the first two weeks, an increase of about 18 percent was recorded in the consumption of petrol on an annual basis. At the same time, an increase of about 25 percent was seen in the sale of diesel.

these reasons are responsible

There was a strong demand for fuel from the agriculture sector during the month of February. Apart from this, the increase in activities in the transport sector after the sluggishness of winter also helped in increasing fuel consumption. Talking about the month of March, along with the increase in temperature, there is a decrease in the demand for fuel i.e. diesel-petrol every year during this month.

During the month of February, the demand for fuel also increased due to the return of speed in the aviation sector. India’s aviation sector is rapidly recovering from the effects of the Corona pandemic. The domestic aviation sector has reached the level before the Kovid epidemic. However, there is still room for improvement in the international aviation sector.
