When Karan Johar launched a Netflix show fabulous lives of bollywood wives, Inspired by real housewives of beverly hills, It turned out to be exactly what many people expected it to be.
The show, featuring Maheep Kapoor, Bhavana Pandey, Neelam and Seema Sajdeh, was trolled on social media for being frivolous and often flattering, and rightly so.
Despite all its flaws, it was still successful and greenlit its second season, which was also criticized but attracted attention.
sounds like the makers of running with malaika inspired by the success of fabulous lives of bollywood wives And we got a “reality show” starring Malaika Arora,
The show started airing from Monday to Thursday at 8 pm on Disney+ Hotstar and I went in expecting another frivolous show that would finally entertain me bollywood wives,
But, it turns out, the show was bad enough that I had a newfound respect for it. wonderful life for bollywood wives,
While both the shows cater to the same set of audience, what makes the Netflix show work is the execution and the conviction of the makers.

have a kind of self-awareness bollywood wives And it rarely takes itself too seriously. Even when there are moments of vulnerability that the celebs display on the show, it doesn’t feel orchestrated.
On the other hand, everything about running with malaika feels staged.
The way the makers have tried to capitalize on Malaika’s unfortunate road accident a few months ago in the first episode itself is childish.
There is a sequence where Malaika decides to take the car to a nearby shop to buy treats for her pet and then the makers have actually added a car crash sound in the background to make the audience feel what she is up to. she is feeling
This all continues in the second episode as well where she is shooting for a brand deal and finally overcomes her fear of driving after much debate.
The second episode is literally about this poorly conceived sequence.

In the entire first two episodes, only Malaika’s conversation with Farah Khan can be seen and that too mainly because of Farah Khan’s curt sense of humour.
After pulling through the first episode, I decided to fast forward through the second episode and ultimately decide to quit the show.
Look, I’m a simple content consumer, I already knew what I was doing when I switched on running with malaika And only expected entertainment. After all, who doesn’t enjoy Bollywood gossip?
but, running with malaika Tried to take itself too seriously with no proper flow, poorly and rehearsed with staged scenes and failed miserably on all fronts.
If you’re looking for a guilty pleasure watch, I’d suggest revisiting fabulous lives of bollywood wives Or waiting for season 3. It’s so bad it’s good.
running with malaika just bad.

After watching the first two episodes, I found standup comedian Sahil Shah’s funny thread and he summed it up very well.
#MovingInWithMalaika App. 1 Recap: (a comic 🧵)
It starts with Malaika realizing that her dog doesn’t have treats. She’s like “Ima drive to treat. No wait. I had an accident. I’m in shock. I won’t drive. Uber? Lol.”
