He was part of the ODI team against Sri Lanka. Shreyas has had a better performance than Suryakumar Yadav in ODIs. That’s why he did not get many chances in ODIs. But now Surya has a chance to make a permanent place in the ODI team as well.

Iyer’s return will be difficult

It is true that Suryakumar Yadav, who made a splash in T20 International, has not yet been able to confirm his place in the ODI team. The ODI series against New Zealand will be important for them. In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, he is sure to join India’s playing XI during the ODI series. If during this time he is successful in batting as fast as in T20, then Shreyas’s leaf can be cut from the ODI team. By the way, Surya has not been able to prove himself for ODI cricket. Suryakumar, who made his ODI debut in July 2021, has not been able to score a fifty in the last 10 ODIs. About a year ago, on 9 February 2022, he scored a half-century in the last ODI against the West Indies in Ahmedabad. Overall, by performing better against New Zealand, he has a great chance to secure a place in the ODI team.
