Central Government Salary Pension Expenses On Civil Defense Employees Pensioners Increases By 1.70 Lakh Crore In 2 Years By 27.50 Percent

Increased expenditure on salary-pension

In response to a question asked during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that in 2019-20, the government had to spend Rs 619469.58 crore on salary pension of civil and defense stock. In 2020-21, it increased to Rs 717424.67 crore. And in 2021-22, this expenditure has increased to Rs 789836.92 crore. Comparing between 2019-20 and 2021-22, there has been an increase of 27.50 per cent in the expenditure incurred by the government on salary pension during this period.

In 2019-20, Rs 304190.69 crore was spent on the salary of civil employees and Rs 66144 crore was being spent on their pension. Rs 131324.28 crore was spent on the salary of the employees associated with the defense sector and Rs 117,810.24 crore was spent on their pension. In 2021-22, the government had to spend Rs 447607.16 crore on the salary of civil employees and Rs 82146 crore on the pension of these employees. At the same time, Rs 143283.66 crore had to be spent on the salary of defense sector employees and Rs 116799.85 crore on pension.

Pension expenditure of defense employees is more as compared to civil

The most important of these figures is that the government has to spend more on the pension of defense sector employees than on the pension of civil employees. When asked what the government is doing to reduce the expenditure on salary pension, the Minister of State for Finance said that the process of exercising caution in expenditure is a continuous process and it should be taken into account first of all while taking any decision. is kept.
