Airbnb To Layoffs 30% Of Its Recruiting Employees Despite Of Increase In Profit In Year 2022

According to the report published in Livemint, the company has decided to lay off 30 percent of its recruiting staff (Recruiting Employees of Airbnd). This decision of Airbnb has shocked people as the company had earned a total profit of $ 1.9 billion in the year 2022. In such a situation, even after the profit of such a large scale, AirBnB has decided to reduce its workforce.

Explain that after this decision of Airbnb, it will affect 0.4 percent of the total employees of the company. According to Bloomberg’s report, a total of 6,800 employees work in Airbnb. The news of layoffs at Airbnb comes as a shock as the San Francisco-based firm had earlier announced plans to expand the company in 2023. In such a situation, the news of retrenchment is a big blow for the employees. The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Brian Chesky said last year that the economy will not affect our business.

The company is expected to grow by 2 to 4 percent.

Along with this, the company’s financial officer Dave Stephenson had said that the company is seeing steady growth and it will take the business further in the coming days. Apart from this, Dave Stephenson also said that this year’s growth is expected to be between 2 to 4 percent as compared to 11 percent growth last year.

Alphabet also laid off employees

In the last 6 to 7 months, many big companies have laid off their employees. This includes the names of many companies like Twitter, Microsoft, Amazon, Google’s parent company Alphabet. Recently, Alphabet Inc’s self-driving technology unit Waymo has cut the second round this year. According to Reuters report, 137 employees have been fired in the second round. Along with this, out of the total workforce of this company, 8 percent i.e. 209 employees have been retrenched.
