Virat Kohli is far behind Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson in Test Cricket Fab Four

Fab Four in Test Cricket: There was a time when Virat Kohli used to score a lot of runs in all the three formats of cricket. In between, his bat was a flop for two and a half years and then gradually now he has regained his rhythm in these three formats of cricket. Here in T20 and ODI cricket, his reign remained intact but he kept lagging behind in Test cricket.

Virat Kohli recently scored a century in Test cricket after three and a half years, playing an innings of 186 runs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, but he took so long to find his rhythm in Test cricket that his main rivals in the current cricket world are unable to beat him. Went too far.

Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Joe Root and Kane Williamson have been the biggest four batsmen of the last decade. These four batsmen of the new generation are known by the name Fab-4. Among these four giants, Virat is heavy on all in white ball cricket. There was a time when Virat was at the forefront of the Fab-4 even in red-ball cricket, but due to being colorless in Tests for three and a half years, he has now lagged far behind in the Test format.

Virat’s batting average in Fab-4 is the lowest in Tests
In Test cricket, Virat Kohli is far behind Joe Root and Steve Smith in scoring runs and centuries. Kane Williamson has also equaled his Test centuries and is about to overtake him in terms of runs as well. If we look at the batting average in Test cricket, the rest of the three players of Fab-4 look far ahead of Virat Kohli.

Joe Root is on top in Fab-4
England’s Joe Root is at the forefront of Test cricket in Fab-4. 32-year-old Joe Root has played 129 Test matches so far and has scored 10,948 runs at an average of 50.22. During this, he has scored 29 centuries and 57 half-centuries.

Smith in second place
Steve Smith is at number two here. The 33-year-old Smith has scored 8792 runs in 96 Tests at an impressive average of 59.80. He has so far scored 30 centuries and 37 half-centuries. Virat Kohli is at number three here. 34-year-old Virat Kohli has played 108 Test matches so far. In this, he has scored 8416 runs at an average of 48.93. During this, he has scored 28 centuries and 28 half-centuries.

Williamson is going to beat Virat
New Zealand’s 32-year-old Kane Williamson has scored 8124 runs in 94 Tests at a batting average of 54.89, which means he is just 292 runs behind Virat in terms of runs. Williamson has also scored 28 centuries so far, which is equal to Kohli. The way Williams is batting in Tests, it can be said that he too will leave Kohli behind soon. By the way, Williamson is far ahead of Virat in terms of batting average.
