Bajrang Punia Sakshee Malik on Vinesh Phogat's Retirement: Vinesh Phogat had confirmed her place in the gold medal match of the women's 50 kg wrestling event of Paris Olympics 2024. Which was to be held on 7 August. But before that she was disqualified for being a few grams more than 50 kg. After which the whole country was shocked, because there were hopes of gold from her. Vinesh Phogat was completely broken by this disqualification and on the morning of 8 August, she announced her retirement from wrestling. After which the whole country was stunned. Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshee Malik have reacted to her retirement announcement by tweeting.
'Mother won the wrestling match against me but I lost' – Vinesh Phogat
On 8th August at 5:17 am, a post was shared on Vinesh Phogat's social media platform. In which she emotionally announced her retirement. From this post, it seemed as if Vinesh Phogat was completely broken due to the disqualification. She wrote- “Maa, the wrestling was won by me, I lost, sorry, your dream, my courage, all are broken, I do not have any more strength now.”

On the morning of August 8, when anyone woke up and saw the news on social media or TV, a shocking news was going on. In which it was told that Vinesh Phogat has retired from wrestling. On this, Tokyo Olympics 2020 bronze medalist wrestler Bajrang Punia could not stop himself and he shared a post on Vinesh Phogat's retirement and put forward his views. Seeing Vinesh Phogat's retirement post, it seems as if everyone wants to share their feelings. Every citizen of the country is seen standing with Vinesh Phogat on her retirement. Meanwhile, Rio Olympics 2016 bronze medalist wrestler Sakshi Malik also gave her reaction by posting on x. Sakshi Malik wrote – 'Vinesh you have not lost, every daughter has lost for whom you fought and won.'

Disqualified with a fine due to being 100 grams overweight
Vinesh Phogat's weight was measured on the morning of 7 August. Vinesh Phogat was a finalist in the women's 50 kg wrestling event, so her weight should not have been more than 50 kg. But her weight was found to be 100 grams more. After which she was disqualified.
Vinesh did a lot to lose weight. She did not eat food, did not drink water and sweated all night. She even cut her hair short, but still she did not lose weight.
