Ugandan Olympian Rebecca Cheptegei dies: Olympian Rebecca Cheptegei has died. She is a Ugandan runner. According to a report, Rebecca was brutally attacked by her boyfriend. After this, he handed her over to the police. Rebecca was seriously injured and also got burnt due to the fire. This is the reason why she died. Uganda’s Olympic Committee has given information on this matter. Rebecca lived in Endebase. She was also training here.

According to a report by ‘The Guardian’, Rebecca’s boyfriend poured petrol on her and set her on fire. Rebecca died a painful death. She was then admitted to the hospital. But by then it was too late. This incident happened in Kenya on Sunday. About 75 percent of Rebecca’s body was burnt. Even before Rebecca, female athletes have been murdered. Three female athletes have been murdered in Kenya since October 2021.

There was a dispute over the land –

Rebecca participated in the Paris Olympics 2024. She was ranked 44th. The accused of killing Rebecca has been identified as Dixon Nadiima. He has also been burnt due to the fire. According to the report, there was a dispute between Rebecca and her boyfriend over a piece of land. Rebecca’s family is in shock after this incident. Her father has pleaded for justice. After Rebecca’s death, the Athletics Federation of Uganda has expressed grief.

Before Rebecca, two other athletes have been murdered. Agnes Tiropa and Damaris Mutua were murdered. In both these cases, the police held their close ones responsible. Tiropa’s husband was accused of her murder. While in the case of Mutua’s murder, the search for her boyfriend is still on.
