Stock Market Closing On 23 August 2023: Wednesday’s session has been very spectacular for the Indian stock market. Due to buying in banking stocks, the market gained momentum. The index of mid cap stocks again touched lifetime high. At the end of today’s trading, the BSE Sensex closed at 65,433 with a gain of 213 points and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 19,444 points with a gain of 47 points.

In today’s trade, there has been a tremendous boom in the banking sector. Nifty Bank closed at 44,479 points with a gain of 485 points or 1.10 per cent. Apart from banking, IT, media, consumer durables, healthcare sector stocks have also seen a boom. While auto, pharma, FMCG, metals, energy stocks declined. Buying has been seen in mid cap and small cap stocks even today. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 20 closed with gains and 10 closed with losses. While 31 of the 50 Nifty stocks closed with gains and 19 with losses.

Rise in investor wealth

Due to the boom in the market in today’s trade, there has been a jump in the wealth of the investors. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE has been Rs 308.96 lakh crore, which was Rs 308.35 lakh crore in the previous session. In today’s trade, an increase of Rs 61000 crore has been seen in the wealth of the investors.

In today’s trade, Axis Bank closed with a gain of 2.24 per cent, ICICI Bank 1.61 per cent, SBI 1.44 per cent, Larsen 1.35 per cent, Tata Steel 1.23 per cent, Kotak Mahindra 0.99 per cent. While falling stocks, Sun Pharma closed down by 1.10 per cent, Bharti Airtel by 1.01 per cent, Tata Motors by 0.94 per cent, Tech Mahindra by 0.84 per cent.
