TeamLease Report Claims India Will Add Seven Lakh Gig Jobs By November

Hiring in India for Gig Workers: There are going to be a lot of jobs in the e-commerce, retail, FMCG and logistics sectors of the country. Companies in these sectors are preparing for large-scale hiring by November. It has been said in a report that till the number seven lakh workers can be given jobs.

According to the Hiring Outlook report by TeamLease Services, the maximum hiring is expected to happen in South India, where 4 lakh workers can be employed. In this also, it is expected to get maximum 40 percent hiring in Bangalore, 30 percent in Chennai and 30 percent jobs in Hyderabad.

Which workers will get these jobs

It has been said in the report that these jobs will be for gig workers (workers providing door to door supply of food or goods). The highest demand for gig workers is in South India. However, there is a high demand for gig workers in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities as well. This includes Coimbatore, Kochi and Mysore.

The new jobs will be 30 per cent for washerhouse operations, 60 per cent for last mile delivery persons and 10 per cent for call center workers. Gig jobs have increased by 25 percent compared to last year, while 30 percent more hiring is expected in the South.

Flipkart will give 1 lakh jobs in the festival season

Significantly, on Monday, Flipkart has announced to give 1,00,000 jobs regarding Big Billion Day and festival season. According to industry research, consumer spending in India is expected to exceed $4 trillion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of around 10 per cent. Apart from this, the GMV of e-commerce e-tail ecosystem has also increased by 22 percent to reach $ 60 billion in FY 2023.
